HTU Sumo Robotics 2023
Our Sumo Robot project aimed to create a powerful and agile robot capable of outmaneuvering opponents with strategic moves and sensor-based decision making. The robot was designed to be compact, sturdy, and packed with cutting-edge technology to gain a competitive advantage in the sumo ring.
What an experience we had in our first Sumo fight. We accomplished a lot more than the expected. We learned our lessons for the next year.
Our team, Double Face, was comprised of passionate robotics enthusiasts who shared a common goal: to design and build a robot that would excel in the simulated firefighting challenges. The members of our victorious team were:
- Anas Ereiqat - Team Leader: As the team leader and Hardware Designer, I played a crucial role in providing expert guidance and coordinating our efforts towards success. I was responsible for overseeing the mechanical aspects of the robot's design, ensuring its sturdiness and efficient sensor integration.
- Mohammad Doleh - Team Programmer: Mohammad's exceptional programming skills were instrumental in developing the robot's advanced autonomous navigation and strategic decision-making capabilities. His expertise in coding and algorithm development contributed significantly to our robot's ability to outmaneuver opponents in the sumo ring.
Robot Features:
- Autonomous Navigation: The robot used advanced algorithms and sensor feedback to autonomously navigate the sumo ring and detect the position of the opponent.
- Precision Control: The robot was equipped with high-precision motors and controllers to execute precise movements and strategies during battles.
- Sensor Suite: An array of sensors, including infrared and line sensors, were integrated to detect the opponent's position, track the arena boundaries, and avoid potential obstacles.
- Intelligent Decision Making: The robot's control system utilized artificial intelligence to analyze sensor data and make strategic decisions during battles.
- Sturdy Build: The robot's chassis was designed to withstand impacts and collisions, providing robustness during intense sumo matches.
Competition Success:
At the 2023 HTU Sumo Robot Competition, our robot performed exceptionally well, securing the 3rd place best strategy award among a talented pool of competitors. The robot's ability to swiftly identify opponents, respond to their movements, and maintain its position in the ring was key to its success.
Acknowledgments:
Our achievement would not have been possible without the support and guidance of various individuals and organizations. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to:
